Charcoal Drawings
For the last 8 years I have been working with charcoal on heavyweight A2 drawing paper. Drawing on-the -spot suits me best - I find a subject on the spur of the moment and draw for about 40 minutes. Longer than that spoils it! The idea is capture something of the feeling of the moment. Colour is sometimes added as a background to set a mood, and to break up the daunting plain white surface. I prefer the unconsidered everyday scenes of life, rather than grand set-pieces.
